Kindle Clippings

As soon as teenage girls start to profess their love for something, everyone else becomes totally dismissive of it. Teenage girls are open season for the cruelest bullying that our society can dream up. Everyone's vicious to them. They're vicious to each other. Hell, they're even vicious to themselves. It's terrible.
- Mary Borsellino, The Devil's Mixtape

Jenny was beginning to understand why crowds burnt witches at the stake. It wasn't because people feared their power; an actual witch with power worth fearing could evade the fire. It was because once the mobs figured out they had nothing to fear, they needed to punish someone - anyone - for their irrational panic.
- Courtney Milan, Proof by Seduction

My river runs to thee:
Blue sea, wilt welcome me?

My river waits reply.
Oh sea, look graciously!

I'll fetch thee brooks
From spotted nooks,—

Say, sea,
Take me!
- Emily Dickinson, The Outlet

It was a relief to explain everything to her, to tell her about the prison and about the temple and what I'd thought of the magus in the beginning and what I thought of him in the end. What it meant to be the focus of the gods' attention, to be their instrument, used to change the shape of the world. And it was nice to brag a little, too.
- Megan Whalen Turner, The Thief

'Commonly thought,' you say? Many things are commonly thought, but perhaps not commonly thought all the way through.
- Scott Lynch, The Lies of Locke Lamora

Violet looked down at her niece's fingers overlapping her sleeve. Violet knew she was a formidable woman. Most people were frightened of her. They didn't touch her or embrace her. They certainly didn't grab hold of her arm with such an air of familiarity. God, she was glad that someone did.
- Courtney Milan, The Countess Conspiracy

After all, you can only be in a bad mood for so long before you have to face up to the fact that it isn't a bad mood at all. It's just your sucky personality.
(Gillade inte själva boken så mycket.)

Sham was not well-equipped for this kind of situation. The division of labour in their friendship meant that Belinda did the cooking and feelings, and Sham did the cynicism and proofreading.
- Zen Cho, Spirits Abroad

Werewolves protected their own. Vampires protected their own. Mages protected their own. Faeries were just bat-shit crazy and dumped their kids on people's doorsteps. It was a funny old world.
- Alexis Hall, Iron & Velvet

MEN. Jag råkade se på Instagram att de har ett nytt Hunger Games-inspirerat fodral som är TO DIE FOR. Mitt fina Einsteinfodral ÄR faktiskt lite slitet.
